Ultrasound Health Assessment

Our ultrasound clinic offers the Ultrasound Health Assessment to male and female patients over 18 years of age. This type of ultrasound looks into the character, shape and size of the:

  • Liver
  • Gallbladder
  • Pancreas
  • Spleen
  • Kidneys
  • Bladder
  • Prostate (male)
  • Aorta

Why take this type of scan?

You may have been referred by your GP to have an ultrasound scan of your upper or lower abdomen. Alternatively you may have your own concerns which you feel need investigating. Some of the conditions and symptoms that this scan is able to pin point, are as follows:

  • Gall bladder stones
  • Enlarged abdomen
  • Stones in the bladder and kidney
  • General abdominal pain
  • Benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate)
  • Acute and chronic hepatitis
  • Abdominal pain and discomfort
  • Abdominal aortic aneurysm
  • Liver lesions and parenchymal pattern

What can I expect from this scan?

This type of scan will be carried out externally around your abdomen and the appointment will last up to 30 minutes. We use gently warmed Ultrasound Gel to help you relax, and make you feel comfortable during your scan. This appointment includes a report with all findings.

How do I prepare for this type of scan?

Please allow 8 hours fasting before your scan, and drink sufficient water before your scan in order to fill your bladder.
