The Growth Scan

Measuring your baby helps to check his or her growth rate at your particular week of pregnancy. By booking a growth scan at the Baby Scan Clinic, our friendly and experienced sonographer will take accurate measurements of your baby including the legs, head and the tummy. By comparing these measurements to what is considered 'normal' at any given stage, it will allow us to check if your child is developing as planned. All measurements and sonographer notes will be recorded on to a printed report, for you to take away at the end of your scan.

Requirements for the Growth Scan

It is not necessary to have a full bladder when undergoing a growth scan. If clear and accurate measurements cannot be obtained in the first instance, an internal transvaginal probe may be used. Your sonographer can explain this to you in more detail if necessary. feel free to eat and drink as normal on the day of your scan and wear loose clothing during your appointment if at all possible.
